The certificate commonly referred to as a "bricklayer certificate" or "master bricklayer certificate" is officially called the MYK Bricklayer (Level 3) Vocational Qualification Certificate. It is obtained through theoretical and practical exams conducted by certification bodies authorized by the Vocational Qualifications Authority (MYK), according to the national qualification code 12UY0048-3.
The qualification is based on the 11UMS0157-3 Bricklayer (Level 3) National Occupational Standard. The legal basis for the certificate is the Vocational Qualifications Authority (MYK) Law No. 5544: individuals without a Vocational Qualifications Authority certificate cannot be employed in occupations classified as hazardous and very hazardous, as specified in the communiqués published by the Ministry.
In masonry, two separate obligations are confused:
The MYK Vocational Qualification Certificate is issued TO THE PERSON, while the obligation not to employ uncertified staff rests TO THE BUSINESS.
To work in this job, an MYK certificate is required; your employer cannot employ a bricklayer without this certificate. Both sides rely on the same certificate.
In the Bricklayer qualification, the unit OHS and Environmental Protection (A1) is compulsory. Within ADEN’s scope, the exam covers A1 together with General Masonry Operations (B1); the certificate is obtained with these two units.
"You need experience to take the exam."
"Completing the course is mandatory to receive the certificate."
"A mastery certificate and an MYK certificate are the same thing."

taking part in the practical examinations defined for the qualification units within the scope of the qualification. Candidates with a positive assessment result have their certificate validity extended by a further 5 years.
The validity period of the certificate is extended for candidates who meet at least one of the methods.
